Household Charge Becomes Payable

The €100 household charge is payable by 31 March 2012. A dedicated website www.householdcharge.ie has been set up to provide information, answer FAQs and allow householders to pay the charge online. Readers should note that, where a person opts to pay the charge in installments, the direct debit mandate must be set up by 1 March 2012 and the first of 4 installments of €25 each, must be paid by 13 March 2012.
Revenue noted at the December Main TALC meeting that, as is the case for the NPPR, the household charge will not be an allowable deduction for Case V purposes.
